with Special Guest Speaker: Dr. Parul Dua Makkar
Recorded on June 10th, 2025
Course Description: Healing the Healers is a transformative session created for healthcare providers navigating grief — whether through personal loss, patient care, or the toll of cumulative compassion fatigue. Born from the presenter’s own journey through the profound loss of both a sibling and a father, this course invites attendees into a space of honest reflection, shared humanity, and meaningful restoration.
Participants will explore how grief shapes identity, purpose, and legacy — and how healing doesn’t mean forgetting, but rather carrying love forward in new ways. Through narrative medicine, reflective practices, and trauma-informed strategies, healthcare professionals will learn to hold space for their own grief while rediscovering strength, clarity, and renewed purpose. This course is not just about recovery — it’s about remembrance, resilience, and redefining what it means to heal… from the inside out.
Learning Objectives:
1) Identify and describe a wide spectrum of grief types—including the loss of a loved one, identity loss, moral injury, burnout, role transitions, and anticipatory grief—and how they show up uniquely in healthcare environments.
2) Recognize the many ways grief manifests emotionally, physically, cognitively, and behaviorally, particularly in high-responsibility caregiving roles
3) Utilize meaning-making techniques, such as narrative medicine, mindfulness, and journaling, to transform personal grief into a source of legacy and renewed professional alignment.
4) Practice compassionate communication and peer support techniques that honor grief in oneself and others—without bypassing or minimizing its complexity.
5) Create a “legacy map” that links past loss to future purpose, integrating life experiences into a narrative of growth, healing, and contribution.
